How to Calculate CGPA
CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) is the credit-weighted average of every course you have completed. The formula is:
CGPA = Σ (grade points × credit hours) ÷ Σ credit hours
Example: A (4.0) in a 3-credit course, B+ (3.3) in a 3-credit course and B (3.0) in a 4-credit course gives (4.0×3 + 3.3×3 + 3.0×4) ÷ 10 = 3.39.

CGPA Calculator FAQs
How do I calculate my CGPA?
Multiply each course’s grade points by its credit hours, add them up, then divide by your total credit hours. Our calculator does this automatically and can also include your previous GPA and credits.
What is a good GPA in the USA?
A GPA of 3.0 or above is generally considered good, 3.5 or above is strong, and 3.7+ is usually needed for competitive graduate programmes and Latin honours such as cum laude.
What is a First, 2:1 and 2:2 in the UK?
UK honours degrees are classified by weighted average mark: First-class is 70%+, Upper Second (2:1) is 60–69%, Lower Second (2:2) is 50–59% and Third-class is 40–49%.
Can I convert a UK degree classification to a US GPA?
There is no official conversion. As a rough guide, a First is about 3.7–4.0, a 2:1 about 3.3–3.7, a 2:2 about 2.7–3.0 and a Third about 2.0–2.3. Credential evaluators such as WES may use different tables.
What is the difference between GPA and CGPA?
GPA usually refers to a single semester or term. CGPA is the cumulative figure across all completed semesters, weighted by credits.
Do plus and minus grades change my GPA?
At most US colleges, yes: an A- is 3.7 and a B+ is 3.3. Some schools award 4.3 for an A+. Check your institution’s grading policy.
